Lift me up

A few weeks ago in one of my classes, I gave the ladies a big challenge to make a 3D hot air balloon cards! They were given the option of either making them for Father's Day or for a general birthday.
If any of you have experienced a ride in a hot air balloon, you will know how tranquil and peaceful it is gliding through the air crossing over the fields and towns. The recent hot weather would have certainly made great memories in a hot air balloon' with lots of thermals available to give additional lift...

I was hoping making these cards was also going to be a tranquil experience in itself, but it certainly proved problematic for some with the complex design and ensuring it wasn't top heavy. That said, the final product was a lovely piece of art and well liked.

The base is made from the 'window shopping' die and the 'Balloon Pop-up' die was used to support the hot air balloon and to look like it was flying high through the air in the clouds.

The decorated papers around the bottom are from the recent sale-a-bration promotion

The above card took most of the card making session but there was just enough time to put together the following one using the retired 'detailed' framelits and 'falling petals' embossing folder. I cased the original design from Amanda at The Craft Spa
